Going to the Wilderness (Well, Sort of).

In 9 days, my husband and I will be leaving for Israel/Palestine. I have wanted to visit that region since I was young and now, as a seminary student, the interest in that area has grown as I have learned more of its language, its people, and its history. What interests me is the collective stories - similiar yet different - that have risen from that area, particularly those involving Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. Until we listen to the stories of war, of despair, of hope, and of reconciliation, I do not think we can begin to understand that we are not able to solve the problems of war, of poverty, of evil, until we first learn how to listen, then crawl, then walk forward together in faith.
