The Ordinary Held by the Extraordinary

Psalm 23
Jeremiah 10:1-16
Colossians 1:15-23

Colossians is really beautiful.  I love the images it paints, both familiar and Other: "The firstborn of all created things, because in him all things in heaven and upon the earth were created... he is the firstborn of all and all subsist in him."  The Divine draws near with baited breath, as her creation wakes up.  Sometimes, our reminders of God are only the gift of breath, the feeling of cool water, and a little piece of bread and a little sip of wine to remind us that Christ is truly present with us, reconciling us completely to who we have been created to be.

What is breath, but Spirit?
What is water, but baptism?
What are bread and wine, but the body and blood of Christ?
What is faith but the reminder that the ordinary holds also the extraordinary?
